NEW ALBANY, OHIO – The Ohio Pork Council (OPC) welcomes two interns to the staff for summer 2025, Hannah Schroeder of Leipsic, Ohio, and Anna Meyer of Cygnet, Ohio.
“We are excited to welcome these talented individuals to our team as they further their education and begin their journey toward becoming agricultural leaders,” said Cheryl Day, Executive Vice President of OPC. “They will work passionately to share the inspiring stories of Ohio’s pig farmers with consumers today, while also advocating for our farmers’ freedom to operate. Together, they will be invaluable assets in our mission to support and uplift the pork industry in our state.”
Hannah Schroeder will join the team as policy and communications intern for the summer of 2025. Currently a student at Wilmington College, she is studying political science in the area of food science. Growing up in Leipsic, Ohio, on her family’s swine-finishing operation, Schroeder was active in 4-H and FFA and has found a passion for agricultural policy which will be influential during her time at OPC.
“Growing up in the pork industry has shaped me into who I am today,” said Hannah Schroeder, OPC policy and communications intern. “Advocating for an industry I love while working with amazing people is how I want to spend my future, and this internship is exactly that. I hope to use this internship as an opportunity to give back and support the continued growth of the industry.”
At Wilmington, Schroeder is a member of the professional ag-based sorority, Sigma Alpha, and participates in other ag-related organizations. She particularly enjoys leading and organizing state and national lobby trips for students to meet with legislators.
Anna Meyer, who will serve as the summer 2025 communications intern, has completed her sophomore year at The Ohio State University studying agricultural communications and agribusiness. Growing up on her family’s row crop farm in Cygnet, Ohio, and being active in 4-H and FFA, is where she found her passions for agriculture and communications. Meyer is looking forward to expanding her knowledge and experience in the pork industry.
“Every day is a chance to learn more about the pork industry and the vital role it plays in our communities and economies,” said Anna Meyer, OPC communications intern. “It’s an amazing opportunity to grow in my understanding while helping share the industry’s story with others.”
At Ohio State, Meyer is a member of Sigma Alpha – an agricultural professional sorority, Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, The Agribusiness Club, and Saddle and Sirloin.
