NEW ALBANY, OHIO – In the 20 counties served by the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC), more than 193,000 meals are distributed each day, supporting their mission to end hunger one nourishing meal at a time while co-creating communities where everyone thrives. In support of this community-based nonprofit, the Ohio Pork Council, on behalf of Ohio’s pig farmers, has donated $5,000 in nutritious, high-quality, protein-filled pork as a part of their annual Pork Power program.
“Protein obviously is one of the harder things for us to come by,” said Craig Truax, director of corporate partnerships at MOFC. “This donation is certainly going to help throughout our summer feeding programs with the kitchen team being able to provide much needed protein.”
This donation demonstrates the dedication of Ohio pig farmers that continue to give back to communities across their state and beyond. The donation attempts to reach those in need and provide a reliable protein source for their diet. Ohio pig farmers look to aid the 600 partner agencies of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective in providing healthy, sustainable food to their clients.
“We are very happy here at Ohio Pork Council to be able to give back to our community,” said Jarred Black, president elect of OPC and pork producer from Canal Winchester, Ohio. “This donation to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective will go a long way to help families get fresh, quality pork in their pantry.”
Under the We Care ethical principles, Ohio pork producers are focusing their efforts on producing wholesome, nutritious, sustainable, and affordable pork for consumers every day. These core values are highlighted and explained much more at www.ohpork.org.
