OHIO PORK COUNCIL
Ohio Pork Council Seeks Interns for 2027
The Ohio Pork Council is accepting applications for three paid internships that give college students the opportunity to build real-world experience while serving Ohio’s pig farmers.
Each position offers a unique experience, from coordinating youth swine shows and communicating with producers to caring for pigs and answering consumer questions at the Ohio State Fair.

The OH-PIGS Program Intern will help coordinate the 2027 sanctioned show series from April through June. Responsibilities include communicating with show hosts, managing registrations and show records, tracking points, and assisting at each sanctioned show.
Applicants should be enrolled in an agriculture-related college program and have a strong understanding of show pig programs, modern agriculture, and pork production. Travel throughout Ohio is required, with eligible expenses reimbursed by OPC.
Compensation: $5,000
Application deadline: December 1, 2026

Communications Intern
The Communications Intern will work full time from May through August, helping OPC communicate with pig farmers, consumers, and the media. The intern will write content, develop graphics, support social media, assist with producer education, and help plan summer events.
During the Ohio State Fair, the intern will also help manage OPC’s pork food stands, as well as support educational and promotional activities.
Applicants should be studying agriculture, communications, marketing, or journalism. Strong writing, public speaking, and organizational skills are required. Knowledge of swine and modern agriculture is helpful but not required.

Pig Care and Education Intern

The intern will provide daily care for sows including farrowing and help fairgoers understand modern pork production and pig care. This position requires previous swine experience and the ability to remain calm while handling animal-care responsibilities and questions from the public.
